This school (I speak about the academy) touts that it tailors its education program to highly gifted kids. I DON'T recommend this school on several fronts. While the education program is challenging and designed for highly gifted kids, it lacks so many other things. There are so few students to begin with, so there isn't much of a social atmosphere which is a critical part of a child's development. And some of the students that are there have behavioral issues that make it difficult for others to learn. The school is also very disorganized and lacks funding for basic needs, like a gym for phy ed and an outdoor playground for recess or even janitorial services. Many families are mislead into thinking that their gifted children would fit in here and get a quality education, but that is so far from the truth. The curriculum accelerates your child, however, they skip over basic material that there are gaps in the instruction you only come to find out after applying to other schools and are re-assessed to your huge disappointment. The director only cares about promoting her daughter and has been known to skip classes to escort her child to offsite activities, in THE MIDDLE OF THE SCHOOL DAY. If you decide to transfer schools, she withholds records or manipulates you into staying. Be leary of getting a "scholarship" to help pay for tuition expenses because this could be construed as you "owing" the school money, thus giving her leverage to withhold student transcripts. Not only that but many families, teachers and staff have left over the years due to disagreements with the director and she has held grudges enough to damage their reputations or pulled some illegal stunts to retaliate against them. Stay away from this school and its director. For the amount of tuition this place charges, there are better options without having to deal with the hassle of working with the director. Or better yet, if you have highly gifted kids, consider EPGY through Stanford online, or try an online highschool. Just a poorly run school with lack of governance and funding.
